28 Nov Screw What Your Body is Telling You. What’s Your Mind Telling You? | JDI Strength Webisode # 15
My buddy Joe came by the gym the other day to train with me. Joe has a similar background to me. We both came from college strength and conditioning and have both trained with some top powerlifters and coaches.
I’ve been nursing a bad shoulder for a while now and it’s really started to affect my training. The worst part isn’t the pain or discomfort but instead the mental toll it’s taking on me. Even though I’m taking steps to get better and it’s definitely not as bad as it was, it’s constantly on my mind. The thought of the pain was starting to consume me and I was feeling bad for myself.
While Joe and I trained, he could tell I was feeling down on myself and my body posture reflected it. I let the injury steal my passion for training and keep me from aggressively pursuing my goal. So Joe called me out and told me something that I wanted to share this week.
